COVID-19 UPDATE: Academics West's Commitment to the Health and Safety of the School Community
The health and safety of all of our students continues to be our first priority in the wake of the evolving situation around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in New York City. We encourage everyone in our school communities to listen to facts and not respond to fear. The following are a list of safety measures that will be enforced by Academics West to maintain safety in our school community.

- All teachers, students, and visitors are given a health screen upon entry into the school.
- All individuals temperature is taken (anything above 100 degrees Fahrenheit and the individual cannot enter)
- A social distancing policy is in place.
- Hygiene, cleaning and disinfection protocols are in place.
- Hand sanitizers are located at regular locations throughout the facility.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is available for all persons in the building.
- Guided pathways are labelled in the space to facilitate the movement of traffic in one direction.
- Regular hand-washing will be required by all staff and students.
- Face masks will be worn by staff and students while they are on school premises, (students may be allowed to not wear masks if there is a medical condition or if they are sitting and socially distancing).
- Contact tracing will be implemented if a member of the community becomes infected with COVID 19.
- Stay home and call your doctor if you have symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath, fever, sore throat.
- If you do not feel better in 24-48 hours, contact your doctor.
- Do not come to school or to work until you have been fever-free for at least 72 hours without the use of fever reducing drugs like Tylenol or ibuprofen.
- If you need help getting medical care, call 311.
