A MODEL FOR SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL & METACOGNITIVE LEARNING
Clinically Informed Academics® (CIA), is a model created by Jeffrey Kassinove, Ph.D. and Evan Flamenbaum, D.S.W. This approach considers the whole student to formulate effective individualized learning strategies. It combines clinical knowledge with academic interventions to help students improve beyond what traditional methods can achieve. Our CIA platform prepares students to compensate for their learning differences and/or social emotional stress.
CLINICALLY INFORMED ACADEMICS ®
Clinically Informed Academics® (CIA) incorporates evidence based approaches that consider the whole student when formulating effective individualized learning strategies. Our method is designed to help students improve academically beyond what traditional methods can achieve. By combining clinical knowledge and academic interventions, we are able to improve the overall functioning of students socially, emotionally, and educationally. Our model teaches students how to compensate for their learning weaknesses and or/social-emotional distress.
All of our academic interventions are based on validated methods that have been put through scientific rigor and are proven to be effective. |

WE EMPLOY THE FOLLOWING ASSESSMENTS AND PRACTICES FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS IN ORDER TO OFFER STRATEGIC AND SUCCESSFUL SUPPORT:
LEARNING STYLE PROFILE
Understanding children's unique strengths and weaknesses is essential to helping them shine in academic settings. Our educational psychologists assess students using the most up-to-date methods and tools to discover their best learning styles and to develop superior learning environments for them. This assists our clinicians in formulating the Strategic Academic Plan (SAP) for each student.
|
STRATEGIC ACADEMIC PLAN
After administering the Learning Style Profile (LSP) assessments, an educational psychologist can process the results to create the Strategic Academic Plan. The academic coach will use this plan to aid students in understanding their learning styles and inform individualized support (under the supervision of an educational psychologist).
|
WEEKLY UPDATE
The academic coach provides a weekly update of the student's progress and work. This update is overseen by the Coordinator of Academic Coaching and is then sent to the parent for review.
