Evan Flamenbaum, DSW, M.Ed
For close to twenty years, Dr. Flamenbaum has been advocating for children and adolescents to help them improve their lives. As the former Dean of Students at a New York City private school, he used his clinical knowledge to help students stay in school during periods of difficult psychological adjustment. During his tenure there, he ran a counseling department and dealt with a wide variety of complex academic and psychological issues. He has a keen understanding of academic pressures that are placed on students and their families. As well, he has a unique personal understanding of the stressors placed on children in private schools having attended one himself and, currently, having both of his children in private school.
As a licensed social worker, Dr. Flamenbaum trained with some of the leading experts on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He now teaches other professionals about his approach to treating such problems, from both a psychological and an academic perspective. He uses cognitive behavior therapy and metacognitive strategies to help children and teens deal with executive functioning problems, learning disabilities, depression, anxiety and other psychological problems.
As the educational director of Academics West, Dr. Flamenbaum works together with Dr. Kassinove and their entire staff to provide the best educational support for their clients. Evan is a passionate and dynamic educator. His intrinsic desire to help kids is quite apparent once you meet him.
